Bill Mountford and his team had something special planned for Georgia Johnson when she came into work on Jan. 18. It was her 91st birthday, and they surprised her with a beautiful gift and her favorite dessert—carrot cake!
She is a retired ND employee and one of two phone operators who answers the main Notre Dame phone lines. She started her part-time career at ND in 1984 as a switchboard operator, retired twice, and continues to work four hours per week.
What has kept her here so long? “I love the job because I like helping people, and I have always enjoyed the people I work with,” said Georgia. “Notre Dame is a good place to work!”
