zoom edu summit recap

The University of Notre Dame recently hosted the Zoom Edu Summit at the Morris Inn, bringing together higher education leaders, educators, technologists, and AV professionals from across the United States to explore the future of teaching, learning, collaboration, and campus engagement. The two-day event welcomed approximately 133 registered attendees representing 39 unique institutions and organizations, creating a valuable opportunity for peer benchmarking, collaboration, and strategic dialogue on the evolving role of technology in higher education.

The summit focused on how emerging technologies, particularly AI-powered collaboration tools and modern Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) platforms, are reshaping both the academic and operational landscape of universities. Through keynote presentations, hands-on workshops, and collaborative discussions, participants explored ways institutions can create more connected, accessible, and efficient learning environments while supporting the changing expectations of students, faculty, and staff.

A central theme throughout the event was the growing importance of integrated digital learning environments. Sessions demonstrated how Zoom’s AI-enabled capabilities, learning management system (LMS) integrations, automation tools, and accessibility features can enhance classroom instruction, support hybrid and flexible learning models, and improve student engagement. Faculty-focused sessions highlighted practical strategies for leveraging AI and collaboration technologies to create more dynamic and inclusive learning experiences.

In addition to instructional innovation, the summit examined how modern collaboration platforms can improve administrative effectiveness and operational efficiency across campus. Attendees explored solutions including Zoom Phone, Zoom Spaces, and Zoom Contact Center, with discussions centered on streamlining communication workflows, improving service delivery, and supporting more seamless campus operations. These conversations aligned closely with broader higher education trends focused on modernizing institutional infrastructure and enhancing the digital experience for campus communities.

The event featured three specialized tracks tailored to distinct audiences and operational needs. The Faculty Track focused on teaching and learning technologies, including AI tools, classroom engagement strategies, and LMS integration. The Platform Managers Track explored enterprise collaboration architecture, communications management, and operational governance for Zoom environments. The AVIXA-certified Zoom Spaces Designers Track provided technical insights into designing and supporting next-generation learning and collaboration spaces, while also offering continuing education opportunities for AV professionals.

The summit also provided Notre Dame with an important opportunity to benchmark its learning space technologies, collaboration strategies, and digital engagement initiatives against peer institutions and industry leaders. By convening experts from across higher education and industry partners including Zoom, Shure, HP Poly, and Korbyt, the university strengthened its role as a leader in shaping the future of technology-enabled learning environments.

As higher education institutions continue to evolve in response to changing instructional models, workforce expectations, and digital transformation initiatives, events such as the Zoom Edu Summit reinforce the importance of collaboration, innovation, and strategic planning. The conversations and partnerships established during the summit will help inform future discussions around classroom technology, campus collaboration platforms, accessibility, and the long-term evolution of learning spaces at Notre Dame and across higher education.
