CIO Blog: AI Summit

Author: Jane Livingston

The upcoming AI Summit on May 20 is a reminder of just how much opportunity AI brings to Notre Dame, and we're excited about what's ahead. We hope you'll be there — and we hope you'll engage deeply with what's on the agenda.

At the same time, we're continuing to keep a close eye on the security concerns that AI is surfacing. As many of you know, tools like Mythos are exposing long-dormant vulnerabilities in code, and we expect this to cause continued disruption to system security in the months ahead. This summit is a chance to get smarter together about both sides of that equation — the opportunity and the risk.

Higher Education IT is navigating the same pressures, the same questions, and the same opportunities that we are — and there's real value in thinking alongside peers who are working through this in real time. Come ready to listen, to challenge, and to bring what you know from your day-to-day work into the conversation.

All staff and distributed team members are encouraged to attend. Block the day and be present.

We also want to say plainly: the work you've done over the past year — and really over the past several years — to lay the security foundations we're now building on is critical to our success. We are grateful for your dedication. The skills you've developed, the systems you've strengthened, and the discipline you've brought to this work are exactly what positions us well to respond to what AI is bringing our way.

I hope to see you all there,

Jane
