Campus Safety Team
Congratulations to the Campus Safety Zombie Preparedness Festival team for their RecognizeIT team nomination.
Team lead: Amber Walter
Team members: Casey Kiel, Kevin Strite, Miranda VanNevel.
From Olivia Rosenberg (Consultant to the Chief of Police):

Tracy and I did not have the capacity to pull off this event on our own. Amber and Casey truly made the event possible. With few words of direction, Amber and Casey worked diligently behind the scenes, taking every idea to an entirely new, more creative level. Amber is reliable and dependable - every requested revision to the materials was often completed the same day, sometimes outside of normal working hours. Amber also worked directly with Jenna Liberto on the communications plan and provided the marketing materials which included printed flyers, digital signs, table tents, exhibitor signage, posters, a banner, punch cards, stickers, t-shirt graphics, and more. I am certain their contributions are to thank for the event reaching over 2,000 campus community members.

Kevin and Miranda were also incredible. They were on campus at dawn for extensive make-up application, brought (and ruined) their own clothing, embraced their character, and became moving billboards for the event. They recruited, they engaged, and they added a lot of fun to the event. Without zombie volunteers, the festival would have been incomplete and would not have received the same level of hype.

From Keri Kei Shibata (Assistant Vice President for Campus Safety and Chief of Police):
Amber Walter is amazing. We first met her when she helped us with the implementation of Veoci. She helped our team put on an amazing scavenger hunt for the EOC that was a blast, was very well received, and helped people become familiar with Veoci. When Tracy and Olivia came up with the idea for the Zombie Preparedness Fest, they immediately knew that they wanted Amber's help and she was enthusiastic and was an integral part of the planning and execution of the event.

I think Amber brought in Casey Kiel who did a phenomenal job with graphics. Everyone wanted stickers and shirts with her design. We printed 600 shirts and people had to participate at 6 booths in order to get a shirt. The shirts were gone within the first hour. She also designed awesome signs for each of the tables, promotional materials, and a selfie banner. If I had one of the tables, I would put the sign up as art in my office because they are just so great!

I've worked with Kevin Strite on several projects. He's so organized and great to work with. It was fun to see a different side of him as a Zombie. He wore his own clothes which he dragged through dirt and poured fake blood and condiments on and was even willing to let me take a serrated knife to them to tatter them up. He was there early to be made up and engaged with the crowd the entire time.

Miranda VanNevel arrived very early in the morning also with her own clothes zombified. She was also a very convincing Zombie who got in a lot of steps engaging with the attendees the entire day.
